About the reference identity
Three amino acids and a copper complex
GHK stands for glycine, histidine and lysine, in that order. Cu identifies copper in the named complex. Chemical databases distinguish the peptide alone from the copper-containing record. The sequence is also different from AHK, whose first amino acid is alanine; the two names are not interchangeable.
- Sequence shorthand
- GHK · glycine–histidine–lysine
- Name detail
- Copper complex, distinct from the peptide alone
